The band eventually broke up in 1996 and Bunbury started his solo career in 1997 with a techno album, Radical Sonora with his new band: Copi (piano), del Moran (bass), Ramón Gacias (drums) and former Héroes del Silencio guitarrist Alan Boguslavsky.
Recognized by his wish to always reinvent himself, Bunbury released in 1999 the album Pequeño, which sounded much different than anything he did before. His band also suffered changes, Boguslavsky was replaced by Rafa Domínguez, and the new faces, Ana Belén Estaje (violin), Luis Miguel Romero (percussion), Javier Iñigo, Javier García Vega & Antonio Ríos in the metal instruments.
This band was known as the "Huracán Ambulante" ("Rambling Hurricane") and recorded with Bunbury the rest of his solo discography, (except Antonio Ríos).
In 2005, after 8 years together, Bunbury dissolved the band and declared that will record a new album in 2006 only with his voice and a piano. Nevertheless, in early 2006 he recorded an album with spanish artist Nacho Vegas by the name of El tiempo de las cerezas.
His old band, Héroes del Silencio, reunited in 2007 for a short tour which visited Latin America, United States and Spain.

Cerca del precipicio donde siempre quise estar
Carmen Jones en el cuarto de estar
Nadie sabe andar como ella
Quiso una estrella iluminar
Mi camino, cuando más ciego estuve
Carmen jones, no te puedo fallar
Sólo me tengo que reconciliar
Con los errores que volveré a cometer
Son estos celos, del cielo hasta el suelo
Y, quiso una estrella iluminar
Mi camino cuando más ciego estuve
Carmen Jones, no te puedo fallar
The song "Carmen Jones" by Enrique Bunbury begins with the singer stating that he is going to start from the beginning – a place close to the precipice, where he always wanted to be. The reference to the precipice is a metaphor for the edge of danger or instability. He then describes Carmen Jones in the living room and how she walks like no one else. Carmen Jones, the character mentioned in the song, was a beautiful and alluring woman who ultimately destroys the lives of the men who fall for her.
The chorus of the song talks about how Carmen Jones wanted to be a star, illuminating the singer's path when he was blind. He pleads that he will never fail her and she should never doubt him. However, he acknowledges that he still has to reconcile with the mistakes he will undoubtedly make. The singer then talks about his jealousy, describing it as a torment that he cannot bear.
The song is about an intense and dangerous love affair as well as the singer's inner struggle with his own flaws and insecurities. The reference to Carmen Jones, the femme fatale, symbolizes temptation, risk, and ultimately self-destruction.
