Gang Bang
Enrique Bunbury Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Hay cerca del Damm
Cuatro putas que bailan un vals
Detrás del cristal,
Y se puede sentir
El sudor fuerte desde Berlín.
Tú allí, en soledad,
Una lluvia muy fina golpea tu cara,
Resbala en tu piel y a la vez
Se ilumina un cartel ofreciéndote
Libertad y Sordidez,

¿Me volvería a equivocar otra vez?

¡Gang-bang!

Overall Meaning

The first verse of the song "Gang-Bang" by Enrique Bunbury talks about four prostitutes who dance to a waltz near Damm, and you can feel their sweat all the way from Berlin. The singer stands alone as a fine rain hits his face, and he sees the prostitutes behind the glass. A sign illuminates and offers him freedom and sordidness at a price that modern men should be able to pay once the night starts. The singer is told that his flesh is paler, and his soul is gray, and if he doesn't lose his mind, then there's only one solution – castration! It is a metaphor for the singer to abandon all his sexual desires and give up on his weakness that he cannot resist.

The second verse of the song continues with the singer looking at the peaceful waters from his hotel. The wind brings a foul smell of the perfidious, small brown people in his surroundings. He realizes that he was once the king with his scepter in hand, observing people he would never get to know, even if he lives for an extended period. He starts walking through the city, trying to escape the neon colors and look for something with a different smell than love. In the end, he questions whether he would make the same mistake again if he got another chance.

Overall, the song talks about the singer's desperate attempt to escape his weakness and sexual desires and the pointlessness of his attempts.

Tú allí, en soledad,

¿No lo ves? Tu carne es más pálida.
Can't you see it? Your flesh is paler, and your soul grayer. If you don't lose your sanity, you'll realize there's only one solution: castration.

Y todas las cosas que hice mal
All the bad things I did in the past are conspiring against me today, how did I end up like this, so lucid and sinister? But I know that I don't know.

And a man in a suit invites me to come inside for a gang-bang.

Ves desde tu hotel
From your hotel room, you see still waters like silver paper, while the wind carries the smell of the treacherous brown dwarf.

Mira que tú fuiste el rey,
You were once the king with your scepter in hand, gazing at people you knew you'd never get to know, not even if you lived for a thousand years with the sky at your feet, but their gaze never leaves your pants.

Y si viviera una vez más,
And if I had the chance to live again, would I make the same mistakes? Of course, without a doubt, to the point of madness and pain.

¡Gang-bang! ¡Gang-bang! ¡Gang-bang! ¡Gang-bang!
Gang-bang! Gang-bang! Gang-bang! Gang-bang! A man in a suit invites me once again.
