Fairuz was born Nouhad Haddad in Jabal al Arz, Lebanon. She began her musical career as a teenager. From chorus girl at the Lebanese radio station in the late 1940s, to critical and popular acclaim from the 1950s to today, Fairuz is acknowledged not only for her musical talent and contribution, but also as a cultural and political icon. A symbol of a people, a heritage, a quest for peace, and of humanity. During most of her career, Fairuz reflected two other great artists, Assi and Mansour Rahbani. They wrote the lyrics and composed her tunes. Today, many of her songs reflect the composing talent of Ziad Rahbani who is Fairuz's son. Her songs testify to the Rahbani musical genius, as well as to Fairuz's broad musical background. Referred to as "The Soul of Lebanon" in the 1970s, Fairuz became a pre-eminent figure, a superstar of current music in the Arab world. Together, the Rahbani family is both a school of music and a cultural phenomenon.

The song Akher Ayam Al Sayfieh by Fairuz is about the end of summer and the feelings of nostalgia and loneliness that come with it. The lyrics describe a scene where the singer and some friends arrive at Mays Al Reem Square, but their car breaks down and they are left stranded there. The second verse paints a picture of the singer being alone on a gray, desolate square, singing to herself in the company of the night.
The song's themes of endings, loneliness, and longing are conveyed through the melancholic melody and the poetic, evocative lyrics. The use of imagery, such as the blue clouds and the cold weather, creates a vivid picture of the changing season and the singer's emotional state. The final lines, "If you were in my vision, the car would never leave," reveal the singer's desire to hold on to the moment and the people she is with.
Overall, Akher Ayam Al Sayfieh is a bittersweet tribute to the passing of time and the fleeting nature of our experiences.
