Fairuz was born Nouhad Haddad in Jabal al Arz, Lebanon. She began her musical career as a teenager. From chorus girl at the Lebanese radio station in the late 1940s, to critical and popular acclaim from the 1950s to today, Fairuz is acknowledged not only for her musical talent and contribution, but also as a cultural and political icon. A symbol of a people, a heritage, a quest for peace, and of humanity. During most of her career, Fairuz reflected two other great artists, Assi and Mansour Rahbani. They wrote the lyrics and composed her tunes. Today, many of her songs reflect the composing talent of Ziad Rahbani who is Fairuz's son. Her songs testify to the Rahbani musical genius, as well as to Fairuz's broad musical background. Referred to as "The Soul of Lebanon" in the 1970s, Fairuz became a pre-eminent figure, a superstar of current music in the Arab world. Together, the Rahbani family is both a school of music and a cultural phenomenon.

The lyrics speak of a desire to return to the rooftops of the singer's childhood, where she spent time with her neighborhood friends and felt carefree and happy. The singer invokes the image of a paper airplane, asking it to fly her back to those rooftops so she can relive those memories and forget about the worries of the present. She reminisces about the laughter and songs of her childhood friends, and the joy of playing in the streets and gardens.
The lyrics of "Teery Ya Teyara" are a poignant reflection on the often-complicated journey of growing up and the sense of loss that comes with it. The singer longs for a return to the time when life was simpler and happier, a time when the world seemed more innocent and full of possibility. Through the metaphor of the paper airplane, she captures the feelings of nostalgia and desire for a return to childhood innocence that many of us feel as we navigate the challenges of adulthood.
Overall, "Teery Ya Teyara" is a beautiful, melancholic song that speaks to the universal experience of longing for the past and the innocence of childhood. It is a reminder that even amidst the complexities and challenges of adult life, there is always a part of us that longs to return to the carefree, joyful moments of our youth.
