I Repent
Fight The Fade Lyrics

Show me the selfish parts inside of me
Take me by the hand and walk me through
The years of pain and hurt
That I chose not to walk with You
I Repent
For the Kingdom is near
Search my heart oh God
And make it new
Take this breath from my lungs
If i don't breathe for You
I Repent
For the Kingdom is near
You are my one desire
And I long to be with You
And I know everything I need
Is in You
I Repent
For the Kingdom is near
The lyrics of Fight The Fade's song I Repent call out to God, asking for guidance on a journey of honesty and self-discovery. The writer acknowledges their own shortcomings and asks for God's help in confronting their own selfishness. They ask to be led through the pain and hurt they have experienced, which they have previously chosen to ignore in order to distance themselves from God.
The chorus of the song, "I Repent, for the Kingdom is near," serves as a declaration of the writer's faith and willingness to change. They ask God to search their heart and make it new, even if it means taking their breath away if they fail to keep God at the forefront of their life. The writer emphasizes their one desire to be with God, and their belief that everything they need is within Him.
The song serves as a powerful message and reminder that sometimes, we may need to confront our selfishness and reevaluate what truly matters in life. The writer recognizes that their journey towards God may be uncomfortable at first, but ultimately leads to betterment and a stronger connection to their faith.
