Ich konnte einfach keinen Sinn darin erkennen. Doch wie so oft im Leben zaubert das Schiksal gerade in dem Augenblick in dem man kurz davor steht alles hinzuschmeissen doch noch den rettenden Joker aus dem Ärmel. Ich hatte meinen alten Kumpel Larry angerufen, der seit der Highschool als Musiker durch die Nachtclubs von Waikiki tingelte. Vielleicht konnte er mir sagen welche Bedeutung die eigenartige Tonfolge hatte. Doch als ich ihm das Band am Telefon vorspielte, breitete sich die Lösung des Rätsels wie von selbst vor mir aus. Natürlich! Warum war ich nicht schon viel früher darauf gekommen? -- Die sonderbare Melodie auf dem Tonband hatte mit Musik etwa soviel soviel gemein wie Gregor Gysi mit dem Wutang-Clan. Vielmehrwaren die Töne eine für das Tonwahlverfahren verschlüsselte Telefonnummer. Ich brauchte also nur den Telefonhörer abzunehmen und an den Basslautsprecher der Stereoanlage zu halten und schon führten mich die seltsamen Pieptöne direkt in den akustischen Cyberspace des Fischmob.
