ILLUMINATE manage to combine classical elements, dance rhythms, electronic sound collages, romantic piano parts and heavy guitars without being unfaithful to their typical, unmistakable sound. After seventeen years of band history, 12 studio albums, world-wide life-performances, and having an enormous fan-base, ILLUMINATE are one of the most successful acts of the Alternative / Dark Wave-segment.

In the German-language song "Siehst Du Mich In Dir?" by Illuminate, the singer is asking if the subject has missed them and if they have ever imagined what it would be like to be free from them. The singer then assures the subject that nothing they were promised is real, and that nothing in the world loves the subject as much as the singer does. The chorus features the singer emotionally stating how they grow, bloom, and live in the subject, creating a sense of emptiness and nothingness within the subject. The second verse questions if the subject has ever imagined what it would be like to no longer exist, and the singer once again assures the subject that none of their desires will ever come true, and that being empty in this world is just a part of life.
The lyrics are open to interpretation but it seems like the singer is trying to warn the subject about seeking freedom too quickly, and that nothing outside of the relationship with the singer will ever be able to love the subject as much as they do. The chorus speaks to the idea that the singer is growing inside of the subject, taking up space and leaving the subject feeling empty. The second verse implies that the subject may be seeking an escape in death, but the singer suggests that fulfilling those desires will not bring the peace the subject is seeking. Overall, the song is a plea from the singer to the subject to stay close and not seek freedom or death as a means of escape.
