On January 26, 1986, French humorist Coluche, who had set up Les Restos du Cœur a few months earlier, invited a number of artists and public figures to appear on television as a promotional move. The band, whose line-up was never the same, was dubbed "Les Enfoirés" in reference to one of Coluche's catchwords. After Coluche died in a motorbike accident (June 19, 1986) his widow, Véronique Colucci, called on those who had participated to continue his actions, and the band was revived for a further television show. The concept has since evolved into an annual concert, bringing together up to forty artists and celebrities from various backgrounds. The funds raised by the concerts and derived records under the name "Enfoirés" are donated to Les Restos du Cœur.
One of the key features of Les Enfoirés is "La Chanson des Enfoirés", a song which became a sort of hymn to the charity, written by Jean-Jacques Goldman, a long-time supporter of the organisation.

Face contre terre
J'aurais pu mourir
Je me relève
Face contre terre
J'aurais pu mourir
Je me relève
Je prends mon dernier rêve
Tous deux la même dalle
Et tous deux déçus
Je prends mon dernier rêve
Face à la mer
C'est toi qui résistes
Face contre terre

"Face à la mer" by Les Enfoirés is a poignant song that reflects on the struggle of people who come from difficult backgrounds and face various challenges in life. The opening lines of the song emphasize how people have no control over their origin or the color of their skin, and they often dream of a better life even while living in the ghetto. The reference to Cosette from Victor Hugo's novel "Les Misérables" adds another layer of complexity to the struggle, as it depicts the harsh realities of life that one has to face from a very young age.
The next few lines describe the challenges faced by those in conflict zones who pray to God for survival. The use of specific acronyms like C.O.N.G.O and M.I.C.R.O. adds more depth to the song and highlights how some people are oppressed and discriminated against because of their identity. The chorus talks about rising above the difficulties and holding on to one's dreams, which is the only source of hope for many.
The song goes on to talk about the hardships faced by those living in impoverished areas, where one has to struggle for even basic necessities like food and water. The lines “Tristesse dans des yeux qu'on ne peut pleurer” (Sadness in eyes that cannot cry) is particularly impactful and highlights the emotional burden people carry with them even when they have to keep up a brave face. The song ends with the uplifting message of not giving up and holding onto one’s dreams despite the obstacles.

In life, there are those who hit rock bottom and those who barely make it by. Some ask for a euro, while others resort to stealing. There are the government, people living on welfare, and those who say 'just work harder.' If you are at the bottom, you have to work hard and never give up.

This is the story of a feather smothered in tar, and of untapped intelligence. We rise up and pursue greatness, dedicating ourselves to those who have dreams of achievement. We have the same struggles, but we want to reach the stars without compromising our morals. There are too few good fairy godmothers and too many Cinderellas. This is the Calo-Passi 2.0.0.4 action.
