Keep a-knockin' but you can't come in
Keep a-knockin' but you can't come in
Keep a-knockin' but you can't come in
Come back tomorrow night and try it again

You said you love me and you can't come in
You said you love me and you can't come in
You said you love me and you can't come in, woo
Come back tomorrow night and try it again, woo

You keep a-knockin' but you can't come in
Keep a-knockin' but you can't come in
Keep a-knockin' but you can't come in
Come back tomorrow night and try it again

You said you love me and you can't come in
You said you love me and you can't come in, woo
You said you love me and you can't come in
Come back tomorrow night and try it again, woo

You keep a-knockin' but you can't come in
Keep a-knockin' but you can't come in, woo
Keep a-knockin' but you can't come in
Come back tomorrow night and try it again

You said you love me and you can't come in
You said you love me and you can't come in

You said you love me and you can't come in
Come back tomorrow night and try it again, woo

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Little Richard's song "Keep a-Knockin'" convey a sense of flirtation and longing. The singer is visited by a suitor who professes their love, but for some reason, cannot enter the house. The singer encourages the suitor to keep knocking and promises a chance for love the next night. The repetition of "keep a-knockin' but you can't come in" gives a sense of frustration and the potential for passionate romance.

One possible interpretation of the song is that it represents a desire for intimacy while also acknowledging societal norms and constraints. In the 1950s, when the song was released, there were strict moral codes in place that dictated how men and women could interact with each other. By keeping the suitor at arm's length, the singer is playing within the boundaries of propriety while still expressing a desire for romantic connection.

Another interpretation is that the song is about the struggle between desire and rationality. The singer knows that they should not let the suitor in, but the knocking and the professed love are too tempting to resist. By delaying the suitor's entry, the singer is trying to exercise control over their own desires and maintain a sense of self-respect.

Overall, "Keep a-Knockin'" is a song that explores themes of desire, control, and societal norms. Its repetitive lyrics and upbeat rhythm make it a classic example of the 1950s rock and roll genre.

With that tune he was already a pioneer of speedmetal. And whoever cannot feel this just because of the rock'n'roll arrangement they are not able to listen beyond can go suck my ass - but make it fast!

Little Richard is a once in a lifetime talent. He was a black guy performing in deep south humping the piano kicking over his chair songs like this coming in with crushing drum lines while hes screaming in the mic. He changed music and how it is perceived. In my opinion he is the real king of rock n roll. Legends never die.

@dannielleking2657

He's dead now
