Identidad Perdida

¡Identidad perdida!
¡Identidad perdida!
Los Crudos's song "Identidad Perdida" addresses the struggle of maintaining cultural identity in a society that values assimilation. The lyrics describe the frustration of seeing members of their own community, who may carry the same blood and history, conform to dominant cultural norms in order to fit in. The singer questions what is happening to their brothers and sisters, and highlights the disconnect between the internal identity and the external appearance of those trying to be accepted as "American" without having blue eyes.
The chorus of the song, "¡Identidad perdida!" (lost identity) emphasizes the loss of cultural identity that can occur when trying to assimilate. The song calls for a resistance to this assimilation and a need to "recoger lo que queda de nuestras razas" (collect what remains of our races) in order to preserve cultural heritage.
