Sparhawk was called upon to teach Zen Identity songs to Nichols. During practices, the two started improvising with some very modest, quiet themes. As a joke, they wondered what would happen if they played such quiet music in front of Duluth crowds, which at that point focused around the loud, grunge, "post-punk" sound. Soon, the joke became a serious thought. Sparhawk disbanded Zen Identity, and he and Nichols recruited Sparhawk's wife Mimi Parker to play a very modest drum kit composed of a single cymbal and a single floor tom. She used brushes almost exclusively.
Low's debut album, I Could Live in Hope, was released on Virgin Records' Vernon Yard imprint in 1994. It featured Nichols on bass, though he was replaced by Sally, who joined for the recording of the band's next album Long Division. Long Division and its similar follow-up, 1996's The Curtain Hits the Cast, established the band as critical darlings; extensive touring helped them to develop a highly devoted fan base. "Over the Ocean," a single drawn from The Curtain Hits the Cast, also became something of a hit on college radio.

The band's latest album, The Great Destroyer, nods even further in the direction of rock. Performance
Low are known for their impressive live performances. Rock club audiences typically watch the band while seated on the floor (due to the difficulty of standing for long periods while listening to such slow and quiet music). Commercial success

I'd love to see a scene in a film or series along the lines of:
She was a beautiful woman, a singer, a socialite. And he, a beautiful man, a believer, devout and fatherly, faithful. By all accounts: a beautiful couple.
But the conflicts they endured were ugly. Insecurity ripped them apart. He knew that she was cheating on him, but he had loved her so intensely over the years that he could not bear to leave, let it all be for nothing.
But too much of anything becomes too much.
Last night, he slept with the temptress down the road. She had cast such a spell over him. Last night, when it was done, he laid in her bed. He felt real arms around him. He dreamt that somebody loved him.
But now, walking home in the rain, he feels the guilt as heavy as the wrath of the God that he has shunned in doing this. This, the final nail in the coffin of the love he strived to keep alive.
And we see that. And this song plays.

@mayar So when I read this I was oh dam, if only this man knew, or could accept that people deeply care for him, etc. That was an omen my guy, as if the universe wanted to to stop him, to offer ur camaraderie, eternal care and compassionate love. At least one thing is certain, that the world wanted you to be there is his final moments. Perhaps that he even cared for you and ur group and wanted y'all to be there, to savor the group as his las memory. Perhaps.
