Beethoven's Fourth doesn't get enough love. I guess being stuck between the monumental Third and Fifth contributes to that, but this symphony is still an incredible work.

I love the 4th! Natalie Stutzmann did a fantastic job with Philadelphia orchestra playing this piece in 2019. I don’t listen to much Karajan (sorry), but this is beautiful. My fav performance of this is with Lenny B.

@Vigo Kovačić Exactly. It's an already wonderful work, but then its shoved between what are possibly the two most famous symphonies of all time, and it's kinda dwarfed by comparison

This symphony really is an incredible work, but I can understand why it's not as famous or as striking as the others.

I agree. This is a very underrated symphony in terms of musical quality and difficulty. This symphony is very difficult but if done right it has even more substance and quality than the fifth, in my opinion.
