Mia was born in 1947 in Bagnara Calabra (province of Reggio Calabria, southern Italy), but soon she moved to Rome with her sister (Loredana Bertè) and her friend Renato Zero. Both of them would eventually become successful singers too.
She recorded her first records as Mimì Bertè, but she soon decided to change her name to the more appealing Mia Martini.
Her biggest hits were "Piccolo Uomo", which was recorded in several languages, "Almeno tu nell'universo", which is considered her masterpiece and has been covered by several famous Italian singers including Mina and Elisa, and "Minuetto" among many others.
She represented Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest twice: in 1977 with "Libera (song)" (13th out of 18), and in 1992 with "Rapsodia" (4th out of 23).
Her career ended tragically in 1995 when she was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her apartment at Cardano al Campo, near Milan.

Alcuni dicono che sia un pezzo debole, io lo trovo uno dei più belli mai registrati da Mia Martini, sarà perché aveva questa voce che era ancora così fresca e agile, sarà per il pezzo in sé che musicalmente è davvero arrangiato molto bene, come tutto "Il Giorno Dopo" per altro. Personalmente lo includere fra gli album più importanti degli anni settanta. Per me è stato una scoperta, conoscevo Mia solo dai suoi ultimi pezzi, quest'altra Mia Martini mi ha fatto comprendere meglio la parabola di una donna con doti umanamente ed artisticamente eccezionali.

E' stato così anche per me. Ho cercato questa canzone su YT proprio in un percorso di ricostruzione della mia infanzia. L'album "Il Giorno Dopo" è stato letteralmente consumato dallo stereo di famiglia. Erano gli anni settanta, e non avevamo la più pallida idea di quello che ci attendeva.

testo molto asciutto debbo dire, molto divertente, anche se poco martiniano, debbo dire che trovo sia il punto debole di questo album stupendo...la musica è davvero trascinante e bella, quasi traboccante, anticipa in parte anche quella che sarà la disco-music...i fratelli La Bionda sono dei mostri...grande anche Mia che valorizza un brano altrimenti scialbo...
