Comes And Goes
Moist Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I drown my head
To watch it sink or swim
Coming down from yesterday
We might get through
Weigh yourself
Then you weigh your friends
You weigh the truth
I'll give it up in an hour or two
Well be back soon
I live my life
Its getting better every day
I don't feel quite right
Its getting better every day
And it comes and goes by now
Yes it comes and goes by now
Well it comes and goes but now its
Getting better every day
Trick myself just to pass the time
To kill the day
Its starting to unwind
Sinking fast in the morning light
We came unglued
Another drink just for yesterday
To stem the tide
I feel it slip away
Another trip just to drown my head
Well be back soon
I live my life
Its getting better every day
I don't feel quite right
Its getting better every day
And it comes and goes by now
Yes it comes and goes by now
Well it comes and goes but now its
Getting better every day
Satans on the line
Santas on the line
Ice creams on the line
Major barbaras on the line
If god is on the line
Then guilt is on the line
Jealousies on the line
I got you on the line
Well be back soon
Well be back soon
Well be back soon
Well be back soon
and it comes and goes by now
yes it comes and goes by now
well it comes and goes but now
now its getting better every day
The lyrics of Moist's "Comes and Goes" showcases the struggles of getting through life and its constant ups and downs. The lyrics start with the day beginning at five o'clock and the singer drowning his head to watch it sink or swim. The lyrics then talk about how the singer is trying to come down from yesterday and they might get through it. The singer asks to tap into his friends' thoughts and the truth that he feels is slipping away. He adds that he would give it up in an hour or two and promises that they will be back soon.
The singer then talks about how they live their life, which is getting better every day, but also feels that they are not quite right. They are tricking themselves to pass the time and kill the day, but it's starting to unwind. The singer's life is sinking fast in the morning light, and they feel unglued. They add that another drink is just for yesterday to stem the tide and drown their head.
The song concludes with the singer saying they will be back soon, and the struggles come and go, but now it's getting better every day. The lyrics add that Satan, Santa, ice cream, major barbaras, guilt, and jealousy are all on the line. The song ends with the singer shouting that they have the listener on the line.
