Sweet Dreams
PelleK Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree
I travel the world and the seven seas
Everybody's looking for something

Some of them want to use you
Some of them want to get used by you
Some of them want to abuse you
Some of them want to be abused

Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree
I travel the world and the seven seas
Everybody's looking for something

Hold your head up, keep your head up,
Hold your head up, movin' on, keep your head
Hold your head up, movin' on, keep your head
Hold your head up, movin' on, keep your head up

Some of them want to use you
Some of them want to get used by you
Some of them want to abuse you
Some of them want to be abused

Awwwwwwwo!

Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree
I travel the world and the seven seas
Everybody's looking for something

Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree
I travel the world and the seven seas
Everybody's looking for something

Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree
I travel the world and the seven seas
Everybody's looking for something

Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree

I travel the world and the seven seas
Everybody's looking for something

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to PelleK's song Sweet Dreams are a reflection on the universal desire for fulfillment, regardless of the different paths and methods people take to achieve it. The chorus reiterates that sweet dreams are made of whatever one seeks, and that the singer sees no reason to dispute or oppose them. His travels around the world and through the seven seas have exposed him to various people and their motives, and he recognizes that everybody is looking for something. However, the darker part of human nature is also alluded to – the people who want to use or be used, in a context that is potentially both sexual and/or materialistic.

The phrase "Hold your head up, movin' on, keep your head up" in the bridge could be interpreted to mean that the singer encourages people to maintain their dignity and self-respect, no matter what they encounter in their journey towards achieving their goals. This also ties in with the message conveyed in the chorus - the idea that whatever one's dreams are, one should not let anyone or anything stop them from pursuing it.

Overall, Sweet Dreams is a reflective song that touches on the human desire for purpose and fulfillment. The lyrics acknowledge that the journey to achieving those dreams is not always smooth, and cautionary of the darker aspects of people's nature, but ultimately encourages listeners to keep moving forward and keep their head up.

Iain Thornton

if only you did the marilyn manson version, you are both vocalist gods.

Samuel Farrow

Annie Lennox has a lot broader vocal range then Manson could even dream of, I'm a fan of the shock rocked don't get me wrong but he has nothing on the original.

Jonas

***** I agree, but I wouldn't say it's all theatrics. Manson may not be a great vocalist in the same sense as Pellek or other musicians, but he is extremely creative and know how to best utilize the voice he has with the musical and theatrical experience he wants to create. He utilize his creativity to enhance what he may lack musically, doesn't make him talentless.

YouEvenLiftBro

Manson is a great showman but has nothing on Pellek.
