Ooh yeah yeah, ooh yeah yeah
The lyrics of Shota Shimizu's song "Tears" depict a bittersweet encounter between two individuals. The singer expresses seeing the person he loves at a train station, wearing a sad expression. Despite usually having a happy face when they talk, they pass each other without engaging in conversation. The singer finds this type of interaction disheartening, as he has been waiting for this person. He realizes that they are trying to appear strong and adult-like by holding back their tears, but he wishes they would open up to him and allow him to understand their emotions. He reassures them that it's okay to cry like a child, emphasizing the importance of vulnerability and genuine expression of emotions.
The song continues by describing the melancholic atmosphere of the evening streets, where sad dreams wander. In retrospect, the singer wonders if they were actually happy together. They feel a connection in that moment, being in the same place at the same time, and questions if the other person had been searching for them as well.
The lyrics reiterate the theme of holding back tears during rainy mornings and lonely nights. The singer wants to be someone with whom the other person can open their heart and share their pain. They acknowledge their own fear and vulnerability, emphasizing that they are in the same boat. The song ends with a repeating chorus, highlighting the desire for both individuals to cry like children and be comforted by each other's presence.
Overall, "Tears" speaks to the longing for emotional connection and the importance of allowing oneself to be vulnerable in relationships. It highlights the yearning to understand and be understood, and the acceptance that it is okay to show raw emotions.
