Supervised by Peterson's manager, jazz impresario Norman Granz, the record is a high point of the trio's discography and is a highly notable example of the group's blues-oriented style of playing. "Hymm To Freedom", written in honor of Martin Luther King Jr., became an unofficial anthem of the Civil Rights movement.
