Heavily influenced by his idol, Elvis Presley, and the 1950s rock revolution, he is also known as the most famous dancer of the Hula hoop fad. For the last 40 years he has retained his popularity in Italy, selling millions of records and appearing in numerous TV shows and movies (including a short appearance in Fellini's La Dolce Vita, before becoming a famous artist). In the latter respect, he has also been a creator of a comic genre, with his characteristic walking and his facial expressions. For the most part, his films were commercially successful, in fact in the 1970s and part of the 1980s, he was the king of the Italian box office in low budget movies. As an actor, critics point to Serafino (1968), directed by Pietro Germi, as his best effort.
As a director he frequently casts Ornella Muti, Eleonora Giorgi and his wife Claudia Mori. His best movie like director is "Yuppi Du", winner of The Golden Palm at Cannes Festival. He and Claudia are the parents of Rosita, Rosalinda and Vincent Celentano, the latter most notable to worldwide audiences for playing the Satan character in Mel Gibson`s The Passion of the Christ. He also works often as a host for several Italian television shows.
His 1968 song "Azzurro" has regained popularity in 2006, due to it being the anthem of the Italian national football team (the Azzurri) who won the 2006 FIFA World Cup. The artist Vincent Fiorello has also created a remix of the song.
His last concert-event in 2012, after 18 years without live performances, was transmitted on Canale 5, with over 9 million viewers both evenings.
Respiri Di Vita

mi addolcisce gli occhi e il cuore
una gioia che assomiglia un pò al dolore,
un profumo lieve arriva a me sento quasi che
mi invade
e l'angoscia ch'era forte adesso cade,
una mela verde morsico ha il sapore
dell'amore
da capire, io respiro
il mio futuro e
poi guardo calmo
poderosi
tieni tutti i sogni belli sempre accesi
The lyrics to Adriano Celentano's song Respiri Di Vita speak of a vague desire that sweetens the eyes and heart of the singer. This joy is a bit reminiscent of pain, and a light scent arrives and almost invades the singer. The strong anguish that the singer once felt has now fallen away. The singer bites into a green apple that tastes of love, with a sweetness that is also a bit aggressive and difficult to understand. As the singer breathes in their future, they calmly look towards the sea, which has a somewhat metallic color that reminds them of death. However, the water's line is a bit bluer, and the sky above the sea has disappeared. It seems as though the world has forgotten about the singer, but this is just a deception caused by the sun's reflection. The lyrics speak of how life is uncertain, like a butterfly flying in uncertainty. One must keep their dreams alive and not stop thinking, or life will pass them by.
The lyrics to this song offer an interesting perspective on life, with a focus on the importance of living in the moment and keeping one's dreams alive. The lyrics convey a sense of introspection and contemplation, showing how the singer is looking towards their future but still taking time to appreciate the present. The imagery of the sky disappearing and the water turning bluer adds to the contemplative tone of the song. The lyrics also suggest that life is uncertain, and that one must not be afraid to take risks and chase their dreams.
