Marie danse
Andréel Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Je me fais roi t'accueillant à moi comme si j'avais eu l'or, l'or de t'aimer

Danse ! Dansons Marie ! Valsons tous les deux
Dansons Marie...

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Andréel's song "Marie danse" is essentially about the power of love and its ability to make everything else disappear. The song speaks about how even the sun hides at night to avoid casting a shadow on the person's dance moves. The singer feels like a king when his love is with him, as though he possesses everything he could ever want. The good people that are gathered around them create a circle that draws him toward her. When he touches her hands, the good fortune smiles down on him, and he feels an intense sensation of pleasure.

The next stanza talks about how no one has ever offered themselves to her like he has, and while others may talk her down and belittle her, they don't understand her the way he does. Her silken veil is like an invitation to paradise, but when pressed against her, one can't help but be paralyzed with emotion.

The final stanza speaks about the fact that if they have to part, they will always hold her memories and their experiences with her close to their hearts. They take comfort in the fact that they had the chance to embrace her virtue and hold her in their arms. When she comes back, they will dance together once again.
