Héroe
Attaque 77 Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
you wouldn´t be missed
sometimes you wish
you did never exist Shot in the ghetto
how lonley can you get
where is his soul?
I don't even know
in any project or ghetto who knows?
Kings of the streets
all over town
nobody´s hero
poverty's sacred son
create just to hang on
Dark was the color
deep under his skin
nobody knows what
is like to be him
That was the problem
he never cared at all
still in the night
we hear his gun
always at war
fighting the law
I thought it was a deal in the dark
Chorus
So you got busted
we know that's a fact
Is in the papers
Tv's and mags
It was a payback
for gansta just like that
back in the hood
the people would say
he died fighting
police all the way
Late in the night
the secret could be kept.
The song "Héroe" by Attaque 77 is a powerful and emotional portrayal of the life of a person living in poverty in a ghetto. The lyrics explore the isolation and desperation felt by the character who is identified as "nobody's hero" and "poverty's sacred son". The lines "if you were dead, you wouldn't be missed, sometimes you wish you did never exist" speak to the hopelessness and helplessness experienced by the character who feels invisible and unimportant in society. The song also touches on the themes of violence and crime, with references to shooting and fighting the law.
The chorus of the song seems to be a commentary on the media's portrayal of the character's life and death. The lines "so you got busted, we know that's a fact, it's in the papers, TV's and mags" suggest that the character's death is being sensationalized in the media, with no consideration for the difficult circumstances that led to their actions. The final line "the secret could be kept" hints at the idea that despite the attention given to the character's death, their true story will never be fully understood or acknowledged.
Overall, "Héroe" is a poignant and thought-provoking song that sheds light on the harsh realities of poverty and social inequality. It encourages listeners to consider the experiences of those who are often overlooked or marginalized in society and to recognize the complex factors that contribute to their struggles.
