Baby
I love my baby
Oh, what a baby
I love him so

Baby, baby, baby, babysittin'
I'm a-baby, baby, baby, babysittin'
I'm a-baby, baby, baby, babysittin'
You know the baby I mean
He's seventeen

Crazy, baby, crazy babysittin'
It's so crazy, baby, crazy babysittin'
It's so crazy, baby, crazy babysittin'
You know the baby I mean
He's seventeen

Rockin' by the cradle
Rollin' by the cradle
Dancin' by the cradle
I guess you know I love my baby so

Baby, baby, baby, babysittin'
I'm a-baby, baby, baby, babysittin'
I'm a-baby, baby, baby, babysittin'
You know the baby I mean
He's seventeen

Baby
I love my baby
Oh, what a baby
I love him so

Rockin' by the cradle
Rollin' by the cradle
Dancin' by the cradle
I guess you know I love that baby so

Crazy, baby, crazy babysittin'
It's so crazy, baby, crazy babysittin'
It's so crazy, baby, crazy babysittin'
You know the baby I mean
He's seventeen

Baby
I love my baby

Oh, what a baby
I love him so

Overall Meaning

The song "Baby Sittin'" by Carole King is a playful and upbeat tribute to a teenage boy. The lyrics express the singer's love for the boy whom she refers to as "baby". Although the title of the song may suggest that it is about the act of babysitting, the lyrics reveal that the singer is not actually babysitting a child. Instead, she is simply expressing her love for the boy whom she is referring to as "baby".

The repetition of the phrase "baby, baby, baby" in the chorus emphasizes the singer's affection for the boy. The use of the phrase "crazy babysittin'" suggests that the singer is infatuated with the boy and willing to do whatever it takes to spend time with him. The line "Rockin' by the cradle/Rollin' by the cradle/Dancin' by the cradle" reinforces the image of a babysitter but also serves as a playful way of expressing the singer's devotion to the boy.

Overall, "Baby Sittin'" is a lighthearted and fun song that celebrates the joy of teenage love.

Before She Became an Upper Middle Class icon: - No one should forget her New York- New Jersey working class appeal which as a Kearny, New Jersey youth - I experienced. What we now call the lower middle class She and Jerry Goffin were writing everyday tunes that later were continued by the likes of the Four Seasons. I know that Carole is proud of this beginning. She wrote some great tunes at Don Kirchner's Aldon Music at 1650 Broadway opposite the Brill Building where she developed a strong association.
