In 1952 she married juggler Erik van Aro (Gerd Eric Horst Scholz). He recognized her talent and accompanied her in her initial years of worldwide success, although they later divorced. In 1953, she made her first recordings with Kurt Edelhagen. Soon afterwards she achieved great success with songs like "Malagueña", "The Breeze and I", and "Dreh dich nicht um" with the Werner Müller orchestra. In 1955 she was featured on the "Colgate Comedy Hour" with Gordon MacRae. Between 1966 and 1972 she was a frequent guest on the Dean Martin Show. In 1972, she married the British pianist Roy Budd; they had a son, Alexander, but they divorced in 1979.
In Germany she was a major performer of Schlager music. There she recorded Cole Porter's "I love Paris" i.e. "Ganz Paris träumt von der Liebe", which sold more than 500,000 copies in (1954.) Like in other countries where she was popular, some in Germany mistakenly consider her a German singer.
Over the years, she has recorded or performed with many international stars, including Louis Armstrong, Benny Goodman, Ella Fitzgerald, Woody Herman, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, Buddy Rich, Sy Oliver, Claus Ogerman, and Chet Baker.
In 2001, she released a new album Girltalk with harpist Catherine Michel. She is also the mother of singer Eric van Aro, Jr.

Caterina Valente Lyrics

my lonely days are over, and life is like a song
At last,the skies above are blue
My heart was wrapped in clover
Every since the night I looked at you
And I found a dream that I could speak to
A dream to call my own
A thrill I'd never known
When you smiled, and then the spell was cast
And here we are in Heaven, I found my love at last
I found a dream that I could speak to,
A dream to call my own
I found a thrill to press my cheek to
A thrill like I had never known
You smiled, when you smiled at me that was how the spell was cast
And here we are in Heaven
I found my love at last
Caterina Valente’s “At Last” is a ballad that tells the story of finding true love after a period of loneliness. The song begins with the line “At last, my love has come along,” signifying that the singer has found the one they were waiting for. The following line, “my lonely days are over, and life is like a song,” carries a sense of relief, as if the wait has been excruciatingly long. The skies above are blue, and the heart is wrapped in clover, suggesting that the singer is overjoyed by this newfound love, and her world is adorned with beautiful things.
The second verse of the song highlights the highly emotional nature of the experience for the singer. She has found something so special- “a dream to call her own,” and a “thrill” she had never known before. When the other person smiles, the spell is cast, and they find themselves in “Heaven.” The singer’s exhilaration and passion are reminiscent of the giddiness felt during the early stages of love when everything seems wonderful, and life truly is like a dream.
Overall, the song is a celebration of love and its unexpected arrival, lifting the singer out of a period of loneliness and into something beautiful.

For non guitar players, what she's doing isn't easy at all. She's having a full on conversation with abrupt interjections that have no rhythm and is still playing without missing a single note. Simply spectacular
@Nomo_Popo
yes, bossa nova is tricky to play and a lot of times even trickier to sing at the same time because of the syncopation. Skills!

Good old muscle memory.

I'm not sure what planet you're from, or what video you were watching, but in THIS video that is NOT what's happening, and there is NOTHING very difficult about what she's doing. That's not to say it isn't entertaining, it's just not what you described AT ALL...

I think he meant the bit that's happening right before she started singing, she's already playing but still talking, that is a very tricky thing.

"abrupt interjections that have no rhythm" you can literally count them off but yeah... Bossa nova time signatures but no rhythm? Ok boomer.
@bababooey5314
I absolutely love when she tells him "that's enough" at 1:49 and does it in tempo and key.
