The song "Amaneh" by Diana Haddad is a plea for safety and security. The repeated chant of "amaneh" (which means "safety" in Arabic) throughout the chorus emphasizes the singer's need for protection from various threats. In the verses, she sings about a lover who is distant but still holds an emotional hold over her. She describes feeling lost and vulnerable without them, as if she needs protection from the pain of their separation.
The bridge of the song brings a spiritual element to the plea for safety, as the singer addresses God directly, asking for protection and reassurance. The repetition of "Bs-har wa7di 3edd njoum" (which means "I wake up alone with the stars") adds another layer of vulnerability to the song. The singer is alone in a cold, dark world, searching for safety and protection from whatever threatens her.
Overall, "Amaneh" is a powerful song that expresses a universal human desire for safety and security. Whether we are facing physical or emotional threats, we all want to feel protected and safe. This song acknowledges that desire and turns it into an emotional plea that is both personal and universal.
