Day's film career began during the latter part of the Classical Hollywood Film era with the 1948 film Romance on the High Seas, and its success sparked her twenty-year career as a motion picture actress. She starred in a series of successful films, including musicals, comedies, and dramas. She played the title role in Calamity Jane (1953), and starred in Alfred Hitchcock's The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956) with James Stewart. Her most successful films were the bedroom comedies she made co-starring Rock Hudson and James Garner, such as Pillow Talk (1959) and Move Over, Darling (1963), respectively. She also co-starred in films with such leading men as Clark Gable, Cary Grant, David Niven, and Rod Taylor. After her final film in 1968, she went on to star in the CBS sitcom The Doris Day Show (1968–1973).
Day was usually one of the top ten singers between 1951 and 1966. As an actress, she became the biggest female film star in the early 1960s, and ranked sixth among the box office performers by 2012. In 2011, she released her 29th studio album, My Heart, which became a UK Top 10 album featuring new material. Among her awards, Day has received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and a Legend Award from the Society of Singers. In 1960, she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress, and in 1989 was given the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement in motion pictures. In 2004, she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George W. Bush followed in 2011 by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association's Career Achievement Award. She was one of the last surviving stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood.
Her death was announced by her charity, the Doris Day Animal Foundation, on Monday 13th May 2019.

Doris Day Lyrics

The moment that I met you
My heart went oops!
I never will forget you
My heart turned hoops
The moment that I met you
I nearly took a spill
My knees went oops
They shook a bit until
My head went oops
You mustn′t let it get you
I was goin' for a very
What-cha call a solitary
Sort o′ stroll
Just a-twiddlin' my thumbs
When I head a lotta drums
Begin to pound and roll
And oops! My heart went oops
It went into a spin
Of loop-the-loops
You most have thought me kin
To nincompoops
The silly way I acted
Of course you couldn't know
That you were so aglow
And I was so attracted
But baby, take a bow
My heart is going oops! right now
Inst
I was goin′ for a very
What-cha call a solitary

Just a-twiddlin' my thumbs
When I head a lotta drums

And oops! My heart went oops!
It went into a spin
Of loop-the-loops
You most have thought me kin
To nincompoops
The silly way I acted
Of course you couldn′t know
That you were so aglow
And I was so attracted
But baby, take a bow
My heart is going oops! Oops! Oops! right now
The lyrics to Doris Day's song "Oops" depict the overwhelming and unexpected feelings of love and infatuation upon meeting someone for the first time. The opening line, "Oops! My heart went oops!" suggests the surprise and suddenness with which the singer's heart races and skips a beat upon encountering this person. The repetition of "Oops!" throughout the song emphasizes this sense of astonishment and the inability to control these intense emotions.
The lyrics also highlight the physical reactions experienced by the singer. They mention how their feet nearly tripped and their knees shook upon meeting this person. The line "My head went oops, you mustn't let it get you" suggests that the singer is aware of their own vulnerability and urges the other person not to be put off by their slightly silly behavior. The song portrays a sense of clumsiness and vulnerability, as the singer's heart and body seem to have a mind of their own in response to this newfound attraction.
The lyrics further convey the singer's realization that this person had a profound effect on them and the admission that they were so attracted. The line "You must have thought me kin to nincompoops" humorously acknowledges the singer's own foolishness and over-the-top reaction to this person. Despite feeling embarrassed by their behavior, they cannot help but be drawn to them.
Overall, the lyrics of "Oops" capture the sudden impact and overwhelming emotions that can come with falling head over heels for someone, even if it may seem a bit silly or awkward.
