An experimental post-hardcore quintet based out of Salt Lake City, Utah, Eidola emerged in 2012 with a dynamic blend of metalcore and progressive and post-rock. The band issued two acclaimed albums (2015's Degeneraterra and 2017's To Speak, To Listen) through Blue Swan Records, who merged with Rise ahead of the release of the group's potent fourth long-player, 2021's The Architect.
Invoking names like Dance Gavin Dance, Russian Circles, and the Dear Hunter, Eidola was founded in 2011 by Andrew Michael Wells (vocals), Brandon Bascom (guitar, vocals), James Johnson (bass), Matthew Dommer (guitar, vocals), and Matthew Hansen (drums). The band self-released its 2012 debut album, The Great Glass Elephant. Two years later the group inked a deal with Dance Gavin Dance guitarist Will Swan's indie label Blue Swan Records and issued Degeneraterra. In early 2017 they dropped the single "Amplissimus Machina" ahead of the arrival of their third studio long-player, To Speak, to Listen, which featured guest spots from Joey Lancaster, ex-A Lot Like Birds bassist Matthew Coate, and saxophonist Nicholas Pope. Guitarist Brandon Bascom left the fold shortly after the album's release and was replaced by Sergio Medina. In 2021, Eidola unveiled the fiery "Counterfeit Shines," their first new single in four years. The spread of musical achievement across their three albums is staggering, especially with such a shift in style between each of them. Always changing it up, always tweaking...these guys fucking rock.
It's a disservice to label these guys a DGD clone, they are SO much fucking more.
And that riff @ 2:46 is just transcendent. Gives that second chorus an absolutely cosmic level of impact.

Dude, it’s ridiculous. I think their fanbase has been growing since I posted that comment, at least on Reddit r/posthardcore they are broadly known to be the powerhouse that they are and have a very strong positive word of mouth. Hopefully the new album (guys drop it already, I can’t wait anymore!) makes a big splash.
