Katastroof was founded in the fall of 1977. Four young guys brainstormed to make an one-time folk and small-art show but, thanks to fate, they sticked together and called themselves Katastroof. The obscure performances followed each other, one by one. In those days they performed Irish traditionals and folk songs while drinking and partying in underground Antwerp.
Quickly after that, they wrote lots of songs, inspired by the pub life, sexual sins and the less good sides of the politicians and the priests.
The real breakthrough came when they signed to a label and they recorded their first LP 'Stront Aan De Knikker'. Of course, it was never played on one of the radio stations, but they did become kind of notorious Flemings.
From Antwerp, they got to each youth movement and other places, inspiring the youth and shocking parents.
At the end of past century, Jimmeke left the band, but Katastroof still continued with their obscure songs and great performances.
In 2002 multi-instrumentalist Stef Bef joined the band. New blood that made sure the band will survive the coming decennia. End 2005, Rob Snob decided to trade the Katastroof life for an easier one, and left the band.
Katastroof is from then on a trio with Zjuul, Jos and Stef and sounds way better than ever before. After about twenty albums, they stay the most downloaded Belgium band persevering in the anger.
' Antwaarpe boave ! '.

Kust allemaal ons kloten, den boom in allemaal
Den boom in, den boom in, kust allemaal ons kloten
Kust allemaal ons kloten, den boom in allemaal
Den boom in, den boom in, kust allemaal ons kloten
Kust allemaal ons kloten, den boom in allemaal
Ziet da d'r na is zitten, ′t is just lak elke week
Den boom in, den boom in, kust allemaal ons kloten
Kust allemaal ons kloten, den boom in allemaal
The lyrics to Katastroof's song "Den boom in" can be interpreted as a sarcastic and self-deprecating commentary on their own performance and the audience's reactions. The repeated phrase "Den boom in, den boom in, kust allemaal ons kloten" can be understood as a defiant declaration, suggesting that they don't care about the opinions of others and that they are unapologetically going to do their own thing.
In the first paragraph, they mention playing for a room full of "assholes" (zakken) and mockingly state that they will play for their own entertainment, disregarding the audience's opinions. The use of the phrase "kus allemaal ons kloten" further emphasizes their indifference to the audience's judgment.
The second paragraph continues the mockery, describing the audience as the dumbest (stoemst) they have ever had. They use derogatory terms like "idioten" and "trutten" to further belittle the audience's intelligence and presence. This can be seen as an ironic commentary on the expectations of a typical audience at a concert.
In the third paragraph, Katastroof admits to singing off-key and having mediocre music, but they suggest that the audience doesn't notice or care. They mockingly acknowledge their own lack of talent and intelligence, but also the audience's low standards, suggesting that as long as they can shout "zuipe-zuipe" (drink-drink), the audience is satisfied.
In the fourth paragraph, Katastroof criticizes the audience, referring to them as a collection of fools (paljassen) and questioning why they choose to attend their performances. They express disbelief that these people have nothing better to do and are willing to pay for their "vétzakkerij" (junk).
The lyrics conclude with a final sarcastic remark. Katastroof claims to have wasted their time on stage and sarcastically states that since there are no attractive women present, they will leave (scheeën wij d'r uit). They tease the audience, suggesting that they will perform an encore, but then dismissively say "nogabolle" (none at all), indicating that they won't be doing so.
Overall, the lyrics of "Den boom in" can be seen as a satirical critique of their own performance and the audience's expectations, with Katastroof using sarcasm and mockery to make their point.
