Although Bruel aspired to be a football star as a youth, he decided to pursue singing after seeing Michel Sardou in 1975. His first success came as an actor, however, in 1979's Le Coup de sirocco. He continued acting in films, on television and in the theater while pursuing his singing career. His first single, "Vide" ("Empty"), released in 1982, was not a success, but the follow up, "Marre de cette nana-là" ("Fed up with that chick"), was a hit.
In 2003, he had his last name officially changed to Bruel-Benguigui, his stage name with his birthname, before his partner Amanda Maruani gave birth to his first child, Oscar, on August 19. On September 21, 2004, he wed the 24-year-old Maruani; it is his first marriage. His second child, Léon Bruel was born on the 28th September, 2005.
As of 2004 Bruel has acted in more than 40 different television and film productions and made five studio albums and several live albums. His last album to date is Entre Deux (2002), a double CD of classic chanson that features duets with Charles Aznavour, Jean-Louis Aubert, Jean-Jacques Goldman, Alain Souchon and Renaud, among others. It sold two million copies and made Bruel France's best paid singer of the year. At the beginning of 2005, in response to the South Asian tsunami of December 26, 2004, Bruel wrote the song "Et puis la terre" to benefit the Red Cross.
Aunque No Este Bien
Patrick Bruel Lyrics

No había peor lugar
Total para decir
Que a lo mejor te vas
Qué tenemos que hacer
Sonreír o llorar
Así que esto es un adiós
Actores sin papel
De una serie B
Lo que nos hizo reír
Todo eso, ya vez
No sé qué decir como final
Nada me suena muy original
Sólo repetir, aunque no esté bien
Je t'aime
Te doy las gracias por no decir
Lo que nos puede hacer sufrir
Hay quien se va a alegrar
La gente siempre es igual,
Y cuando algo está bien
Ellos lo llevan mal
No sé qué decir como final
Nada me suena muy original
Sólo repetir, aunque no esté bien
Je t'aime
Sólo repetir, aunque no esté bien
Je t'aime
Te quiero
The lyrics to Patrick Bruel's song "Aunque No Este Bien" tell a story of a farewell or a goodbye taking place in a bar. The singer questions why they chose this particular location, as there is no worse place to have this conversation. They acknowledge that the person they are speaking to may be leaving, and they ponder what they should do in response – should they smile or cry?
The singer then reflects on the situation as a goodbye, describing themselves and the other person as actors without a role, as if they are part of a B-rated movie. They mention that everything that made them laugh has come to an end. The singer is uncertain about what to say as a final statement, noting that nothing sounds original. They express the desire to repeat those three words, "Je t'aime" (I love you), even if it's not the right thing to do.
The singer also thanks the other person for not revealing things that could cause pain. They comment on how some people will be happy with their separation, as people always seem to react negatively when something is going well for others. The singer once again expresses uncertainty about what to say as a final statement, acknowledging that nothing sounds original. Despite this, they repeat the words "Je t'aime" (I love you) and "Te quiero" (I love you in Spanish).
Overall, the lyrics explore the complexities of saying goodbye and express the singer's struggle to find the right words to convey their emotions. The repetition of "Je t'aime" symbolizes their desire to hold onto love, even in difficult times.
