Cucurrucucu Paloma
Pedro Infante Lyrics

Cucurrucucu paloma
Cucurrucucu no llores
Las piedras jamás paloma
Qué van a saber de amores
Cucurrucu cucurrucucu
Cucucurrucu, paloma ya no le llores
The lyrics of Pedro Infante's "Cucurrucucu Paloma" tell the story of a man who is consumed by his love for a woman who has left him. He is said to have stopped eating and sleeping, devoting all his time to crying and drinking. Even the heavens are said to have shaken at the sound of his weeping. The man suffered greatly for his love, calling out for her even on his deathbed. Despite the pain he endured, he laughed and sang with passion until the end, as if he could not help himself.
The appearance of a sad dove singing to the man's empty house is said to be the man's own soul, waiting for his lost love to return. The chorus of "Cucurrucucu Paloma" serves as a message of comfort to the man and to anyone who suffers from a broken heart. The words translate to "coo, coo, little dove, don't cry. The stones will never know what love is."
The lyrics of "Cucurrucucu Paloma" have been interpreted in different ways, but all agree that the song is a tribute to the power and pain of love. The delicate, melancholic melody and Infante's emotive singing have made the song an enduring classic that has been covered by many artists in different styles.
