Starting in 1939 he appeared in more than 60 films, and since 1943 he recorded about 350 songs. Thanks to his performance in the movie "Tizoc", he was awarded the Silver Bear of the Berlin International Film Festival for Best Actor and the Golden Globe at Hollywood, for the Best Actor in a Leading Role, awarded by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association at Hollywood.

Mañanitas Tapatias is a beautiful song that is interpreted as a morning greeting from a young friend to an older person. The first verse speaks of the beauty of the morning and how everyone is happy to come and greet the person being celebrated. The second verse talks of the day that the person was born and how it was a day when all the flowers came to life and the birds sang. It goes on to say that the morning light has arrived and that it is time to wake up.
