Conor
The Feeling Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You found a way
To change the world
The simple gift for
Every boy and girl
Always a piece
For everyone
You showed them all that
Giving can be fun
Giving can be fun

Connor
You got the life I want
Connor
I got it all so wrong
You'll never know
Connor
You got the life I want
You got the life I want
You got the life I want
Connor

Those poisoned pills
We passed them round
They made us heavy
Pulled us to the ground
But you were built
From beams of sun
Naive and unaffected by
A world that's come undone
Oh what can be done?

Connor
You got the life I want
Connor
I got every thing wrong
You'll never know
Connor
You got the life I want
You got the life I want

You got the life I want
Connor

Overall Meaning

The Feeling's song "Connor" is a tribute to someone who has changed the world in a positive way, someone who has shown us that giving can be fun. The song starts with the recognition of the great contribution that Connor has made to the world by finding a way to change it. The lyrics suggest that this is something that has been achieved through a simple gift that Connor has given to every boy and girl, which has had a positive impact on everyone. The phrase "giving can be fun" is repeated, emphasizing the impact that Connor has had on others.

The song then moves on to the personal level, with the singer expressing a sense of regret that he has not been able to achieve what Connor has achieved. He recognizes that Connor has what he wants, but he has got everything wrong. The reference to "poisoned pills" suggests that he has perhaps been taking the wrong path in life, that he has been following a path that has led him astray. In contrast, Connor is described as being "built from beams of sun", which suggests a positive, radiant energy that has enabled him to overcome the negative forces in the world.

The song ends with a repetition of the chorus, with the emphasis on the fact that Connor has the life that the singer wants. The beauty of this song is that it is not about money or material possessions, but about the impact that one person can have on the world through their kindness and generosity. It is a reminder that we should all strive to be more like Connor, to find ways to change the world for the better, and to make giving fun.

@David Quill You didn't spend time to read so why waste time with you. If you can't comprehend what I wrote then why bother. You clearly did not get the point. Look up Seneca , q stoic philosopher if you want to read further into this. He mentioned that anger leads to destruction if you lose self control. Thus, it is the extremes of negative emotion that creates problems. Balance is key.

If you can't escape feelings as you outlined, then how are decisions separated from it? It only becomes bad when someone is unreasonable because they lose control of their feelings.

I didn't blame all feelings. I blamed the negative feelings such as anger, jealousy and resentment as contributing factors for evil. I never mentioned it is a bad thing to experience feelings. The most violent murders are often rooted in emotion. Anything taken to the extreme is bad.

Someone who is logical but represses feelings may find that they easily lose control of it (builds up over time). No one can avoid it but everyone can work to control it.

You provided little substance other than name calling most of the time. Whatever helps you sleep at night.
