Stylisticly, The Feeling have a debt of gratitude to the 70s, particularly bands such as 10cc, Supertramp, Pilot, Buggles, Queen, Stackridge, and other "progressive pop" acts. They are not averse to wearing their heart on their sleeve at gigs, playing covers of tunes by their favourite artists (such as 'Video Killed The Radio Star' by Buggles).
The Feeling have also followed the 'progressive' tradition of the concept album, with Twelve Stops and Home being a concept album about lost and unrequited love. The album starts with a relationship having just broken up, then follows through with the various emotions of the protagonist from hopeless dreamer to turning to drink for comfort, and finally slumping home.

Boxes of ten
Cool to the touch
You warn me so much
The white to your left
The red to your right
Are all that I'd seen
Til I realised the love that I seek
Rose
I love ya
Especially today
Rose
I love your delicate way
The chill in my veins
Relieves me from pain
Again and again
I lose all control
Your taking your toll
And I'm no longer sane
Dont be afraid
The love that I show is the love that you made
So dont be afraid
'Cos your in control
I'm just your slave
Rose
I love ya
Especially today
Rose
I love your delicate way
Dont let him put you down
I won't let him put you down
'Cos your as good as the rest
And you're much better dressed
I think pink is my colour
I wont drink from no other
Never!
Oh I love ya
Especially today
Especially this way
Oh Rose
I want ya
Believe me this way
Rose
I love your delicate way
The Feeling's song "Rose" is a love letter to a woman named Rose, expressed through the imagery of a bottle of rosé wine. The lyrics describe a sensual and intoxicating experience, as the singer becomes lost in his passion for Rose. The wine serves as a symbol for her beauty and mystery, and the way it fills him with a sense of release and abandon.
The first verse sets the scene, as the singer describes Rose and her friends opening boxes of ten bottles of rosé. He sees the white and red wines on either side, but it's the pink rosé in the center that catches his eye. This is a metaphor for Rose herself, who stands out from the crowd as the object of his desire. He realizes that the love he seeks lies right in-between the extremes of the other wines, just as Rose is the perfect balance of coolness and warmth.
In the chorus, the singer declares his love for Rose, emphasizing her delicate nature and the way she makes him feel. The chill of the wine in his veins relieves him from pain and takes him on a journey of ecstasy. He admits that he's no longer sane and has become Rose's slave, completely under her spell. He urges her not to be afraid, as the love he shows is the love she has created within him.
The second verse continues the theme of Rose's power over the singer, as he becomes lost in her gaze and her touch. He encourages her not to let anyone put her down, assuring her that she's just as good as anyone else and much better dressed. He proclaims that he won't drink from any other wine but Rose, as she is the only one who fills him with such passion and joy.
