Para entender esta canción, primero hay que entender que el quechua tiene distintas variedades, y no todas se pronuncian igual. Por ejemplo, en algunas zonas la "r" se suele pronunciar como "l", y la "q" final suele no pronunciarse. Entonces palabras como "machaykullaniraq" sonarán como "machaykullanilá", y "maqallawankitaq" sonará como "maqallawankitá". También hay que saber que la "k" a veces no se pronuncia en algunas sílabas, por eso "tukuykukun" puede sonar "tukuyukun". La letra habla de la conversación entre dos amigas, porque sólo entre mujeres se tratan de "ñaña". Una le cuenta a la otra de sus andanzas y que se anda emborrachando, y que por eso la castigue (como sabemos, en los Andes se suele castigar de palmadas en el potito, ¿quién de nosotros no sufrió ese castigo alguna vez?). La otra "ñaña" le responde por su "potito sucio". El trato de "tuna" es un apodo que se le suele dar a las mujeres que se parecen a aquella fruta, es decir... duras y espinudas por fueras, pero tiernas y dulces por dentro.

Estimados amigos de la ciber. Hoy en la mañana he escuchado esta hermosa cancion grabada por Victor acompañado por el Inti en 1970. fui testigo privilegiado cuando ellos ensayaban esta cancion preparando un concierto en el IEM a mediados de ese año cuando yo me habia retirado del iNTI pues me fui a trabajar al sur de Chile. Victor tuvo la iniciativa de utilizar tres charangos..lo que le da mucha fuerza a la i9nterpretacion

Otrosi...me llamo Homero altamirano aunque oficialmente soy Gregorio. Quiero agregar que el gran mérito de Victor y otros representantes de la nueva Cancion Chilena, es haber recogido melodías, instrumentos, ritmos en varios paises de latino america y darlos a conocer por todo el mundo. NOSOTROS los INTI cuando iniciamos nuestra actividad musical, nos propusimos como objetivo visitar cada año un pasi vecino y conocer su musica. Yo participé en la gira a Bolivia en 1969 y el impacto fue tremendo,
