Daho is best known in Britain for his appearence on the number 11 Saint Etienne hit single "He's On The Phone", which is an English-language adaptation of his 1984 French-language hit "Weekend à Rome". He also collaborated with Saint Etienne on the Resurrection EP, his album Eden, and his single "Le Premier Jour", itself based on the track "Ready or Not" from Sarah Cracknell's 1997 solo album "Lipslide".
He has worked with many other artists, such as Chris Isaak, Marianne Faithfull, Elli Medeiros, Astrud Gilberto, Vanessa Daou, the Swingle Singers, and more. His duet with Charlotte Gainsbourg, titled "If", was released in 2004.
His 1996 album Eden featured a mix of electronic-oriented songs, ranging from downtempo ballads to drum 'n' bass-influenced tracks, and HiNRG dance. Corps & armes (2000) saw Daho return to a more orchestral sound fuelled by traditional instruments, such as piano, acoustic guitar, and horns. In 2004, he released Réévolution, which featured a guitar-heavy rock sound.
In 2012, he produced and composed songs for French comedian/singer Lou Doillon for her first album Places.
Étienne Daho is one of the most influential French pop singers of the last four decades. His extensive work has seen him collaborate with many artists, and explore a wide range of musical styles.
Jungle Pulse

La jungle, in and out
Je pulse, et pulse encore
Je pulse, in and out
Dardé par les phares
Empoisonné du soleil noir
Je pulse et pulse encore
C'est le moment de la fusion
Toutes les hormones en communication
Dans le magma interlope
En aveugle nyctalope
Collés au plaf' roulant des pelles
Nous prenons feu éternel
Dans un halo blanc, électrique
Dans un frisson pré-orgastique
Fardé par les tares
Empoisonné du soleil noir
Je pulse et pulse encore.
The lyrics of Étienne Daho's song Jungle Pulse are a vibrant and surreal exploration of sensory experiences and sexual desire. The verses are filled with vivid imagery, as if the singer is caught up in a trance or a drug-induced state. The song starts with the singer immersing themselves in the "night of lava", where they see a shooting star and dance freely without restraints. The chaos around them adds to the sensory overload, and they fall into a tropical fog, where they become the one who drinks and devours. The pharaonic breasts of their partner mesmerize them, and the dancing creates intricate patterns like hieroglyphics in their mind. Suddenly, the sounds of the jungle reach their ears, the scream of the lions, the cute gibbons, and the army of whips, all pointing to the nearby forest.
In the chorus, the singer describes themselves as pulsing in and out, affected by the intense feelings of desire and the black sun that poisons them. They are ready for the fusion, where all hormones communicate in a magma that blinds and bonds them together. They take fire in a white electric halo, leading up to a pre-orgasmic shudder.
Overall, Jungle Pulse seems to revolve around the idea of sensory experience, sexual desire, and liberation, with the jungle serving as a metaphorical space for the singer to explore these feelings without boundaries or restrictions.
