Phool Gendwa Na Maro
Asha Bhosle Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Asha Bhosle's song Phool Gendwa Na Maro are a plea to not harm the fragile, innocent flowers blooming in a garden. The singer says that if the flowers are harmed, she will die of fear. The singer also implores the listener to not look at her with such intensity, as it is overwhelming and could cause her to die. The second stanza speaks of the connection between the singer and the listener through eye contact, and how they have both become each other's. The singer also promises to never disappoint or hurt the listener, and encourages them to try and see life through her eyes. Overall, the song is a metaphor for the fragility of life and the need to cherish it.

Sweetly and superbly sung by the great Asha Bhosle ji for the golden era film Funtoosh, composed superbly by the great music director S. D. Burmanda. Old is gold. Superb audio.

This song was sung by Mannadey also I think. Never heard Ashas voice

A delightful song from the S.D.Burman - Sahir Ludhianvi combination, very nicely and finely sung by Asha Bhonsle. The highlight of the film "Funtoosh" was this was the first film under S.D.Burman in which Asha Bhonsle was the only female singer. Likewise in this film, Kishore Kumar was the only male singer.
