Overall Meaning

The song "Piya Piya Piya Mora Jiya" is a romantic duet between Asha Bhosle and Kishore Kumar, composed by R.D. Burman for the 1982 Bollywood film "Jaane Jaan." The lyrics express the longing and passion of a couple in love, who are ready to take on any journey and face any obstacles together. The repetitive use of "Piya Piya Piya" and "Jiya Pukare" indicate the strong emotional connection between the two lovers.

In the first stanza, the couple affirms their willingness to go on a journey with each other. The female singer refers to their love interest as "Saiyyan," which is a Hindi term meaning beloved, lover, or husband. The male singer responds in the second stanza, calling the female singer "Gori," meaning fair-skinned, and expressing his desire for her.

In the third stanza, the couple is in a state of separation, and the female singer wonders where her lover might be hiding. She expresses her unwillingness to let go of their relationship, symbolized by the phrase "main laagu tore paiya na chhodh mohri baiya." The fourth stanza is a description of the male singer's physical appearance, which appears to have an intoxicating effect on the female singer.

The fifth stanza expresses the male singer's confusion about the signals that the female singer is sending him. In the last stanza, the couple dances and sings happily, affirming their love for each other.

Yes.. Bro! I know this story once O.p nayyar da told this funny moment in his an interview that Aasha di was confused in her a mid-line of lyrics...after that Film- director is managed it in the song scene by his tricky mind... 😛

@venkatramannarayanan915

This error happened during recording of the song. Kishore kumar assured Asha Bhonsle that he will cover it up during shooting of the song and did it.

I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS SONG FOREVER! It was the first Hindi song I ever heard and still know most of the lyrics but I never forgot the Melody I hum it all the time. Such a pretty and sweet song 🎶 unlike today's westernized Hindi films and music.

@abhinandandhar
