Drab Majesty’s first release, a limited-edition cassette of 100 copies titled Unarian Dances, was self-released in 2012 and re-pressed by Lollipop Records shortly thereafter. Drab Majesty then signed with Dais Records and put out the debut LP Careless in 2015. Careless was met with high praise from critics and fans alike, and the original pressing is now a sought-after gem. A year after the initial pressings of Careless sold out, Dais released a compilation titled Completely Careless, featuring Drab Majesty’s entire discography, including two previously unreleased tracks.
On Halloween 2016, a split single featuring King Dude was released on Dais Records. Drab Majesty released their second LP entitled The Demonstration in January 2017.
In September 2017, the band released a single entitled Oak Wood in honor of Cash Askew, a victim of the Ghostship tragedy in Oakland.
A talented multi-instrumentalist, DeMure composes all of the elements of Drab Majesty. However, rather than taking personal credit for the music, DeMure insists that the inspiration for the songs is received from an other-worldly source and that Deb is merely a vessel through which outside ideas flow inward. But Drab Majesty is more than just a musical project — it’s a methodical experiment in the identity of creativity. The character Deb DeMure is an enigma that eludes all expectations of gender and ego. When DeMure’s imposing 6’ 4” figure assumes the stage, Deb’s playful, harlequinesque appearance, tempered by an ominous body language, and clashing with the dreamy, ethereal melodies comes across as a web of contrasts. The result is a perfect balance between seemingly conflicting messages, between the high and the low, the drab and the divine.

DRAB MAJESTY Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Drift to an unknown place or a niche
The life of a body split
To reason makes it insecure
You may feel it in jest in your Sunday best
Searching for a tango pariah
To play around in the fire of lies
Today you say you've changed your name
And your mind
Remake yourself today
Only to say you died in vain
Alone a signal you can't avoid
Emptiness was never filler with a void
Denial, close to your personal trial
When you testify in a vial
Open your eyes to the DNA
Make up your lies for the TSA
Check your spirituality at the door
Pragmatic alure
Today you say you've changed your name
And your mind
Remake yourself today
Only to say you died in vain
The song Pragmagick by DRAB MAJESTY speaks about questioning one’s identity and the journey of self-discovery. The opening lines, “Run turn about ace, Drift to an unknown place or a niche,” suggest the idea of constantly moving and exploring, never settling in one place, and searching for one's true identity. The next line, “The life of a body split, To reason makes it insecure,” means that if we try to reason with ourselves too much, we can start doubting our own identity and feel insecure.
The next verse, “You may feel it in jest in your Sunday best, Searching for a tango pariah, Do you think it's pious? To play around in the fire of lies,” talks about the conflict between societal expectations and personal desires. It asks whether it is wrong to play with the idea of something that society deems taboo or unconventional.
The chorus, “Today you say you've changed your name and your mind, Remake yourself today, Only to say you died in vain,” implies the struggle to find the true self, and that even if one tries to change their name and their identity, without knowing who they really are, it becomes futile. The rest of the song alludes to the idea of denying or putting aside spirituality and focusing on the pragmatic aspects of life, which may or may not be beneficial.

One of my favorites. It's so very sunset and death, but in a positive way.
