Drab Majesty’s first release, a limited-edition cassette of 100 copies titled Unarian Dances, was self-released in 2012 and re-pressed by Lollipop Records shortly thereafter. Drab Majesty then signed with Dais Records and put out the debut LP Careless in 2015. Careless was met with high praise from critics and fans alike, and the original pressing is now a sought-after gem. A year after the initial pressings of Careless sold out, Dais released a compilation titled Completely Careless, featuring Drab Majesty’s entire discography, including two previously unreleased tracks.
On Halloween 2016, a split single featuring King Dude was released on Dais Records. Drab Majesty released their second LP entitled The Demonstration in January 2017.
In September 2017, the band released a single entitled Oak Wood in honor of Cash Askew, a victim of the Ghostship tragedy in Oakland.
A talented multi-instrumentalist, DeMure composes all of the elements of Drab Majesty. However, rather than taking personal credit for the music, DeMure insists that the inspiration for the songs is received from an other-worldly source and that Deb is merely a vessel through which outside ideas flow inward. But Drab Majesty is more than just a musical project — it’s a methodical experiment in the identity of creativity. The character Deb DeMure is an enigma that eludes all expectations of gender and ego. When DeMure’s imposing 6’ 4” figure assumes the stage, Deb’s playful, harlequinesque appearance, tempered by an ominous body language, and clashing with the dreamy, ethereal melodies comes across as a web of contrasts. The result is a perfect balance between seemingly conflicting messages, between the high and the low, the drab and the divine.

Too Soon to Tell
DRAB MAJESTY Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Stretching on through the years
Devotion is not a word I fear
What falls between your hand and mine
Forsaking
For breaking a sculpture that we made in time
Don't you wonder how it could be?
Too soon to tell
If hate is what you claim, how can it be undone?
If only we could better pain that strains to make us one
Don't you wonder how it could be?
Too soon to tell
Too soon to tell
Don't you wonder how it could be?
Too soon to tell
Too soon to see
I see you around
Not as a friend
The lyrics to Drab Majesty's song Too Soon to Tell may seem somewhat enigmatic, but upon closer analysis, one can grasp the meaning that the songwriter intended to convey. The initial lines suggest that the author is looking far into the future and anticipating what lies ahead. He/she perceives a long path ahead with devotion being an unfeared emotion. However, something intangible falls between the two hands of the author and his/her partner, ultimately leading to the shattering of a sculpture that was built over time.
However, the song takes a more optimistic turn as the artist implies that hate can be undone, and if only pain could be bettered or overcome, love could make us one. In the chorus, the writer ponders the possibilities of the future, and while there is uncertainty, it is too soon to determine what will happen. Lastly, the lyrics reveal that the author sees the other person around but not as a friend, implying a hint of regret in the tone.
Overall, the song conjures up feelings of uncertainty and ambivalence concerning the future and relationships, with a tinge of hopefulness in the acceptance that it's too soon to tell what lies ahead.

Drab Majesty has a lot of Old-School Goth attributes. It's as if, they took out my music collection, and handpicked certain elemental pieces - recombined aspects to make something familiar: Yet, beautifully refreshing and new. A buddy of mine, recommended them - I'm not disappointed...!!! Yes, I can hear, a heavy; Cocteau Twins influence in the echoed guitars, a Robert Smith type vocalization, and a simple synthesizer keyframe registration, which emulates, far to many bands for me to list (circa 80's). Even the video presentation, makes me think of something David Bowie would have done - It's Great...!!!

Damian Edge Chameleons (UK) vibe here for me too...LOVE IT!
