In 1952 he joins an international competition for the first time in Belfast, Ireland, where he wins the first prize.
However it takes till 1954 before he records his first songs, mainly songs about life at sea and some country music.
He soon extends his career by learning to act, and he will join several movies in Germany.
1956 sees Freddy representing Germany at the first Eurovision Song Contest together with Walter Andreas Schwarz. It is the only year that countries enter the contest with two songs. No points are given, and only the winner, Lys Assia is anounced.
Freddy's songs however become instant hits in Germany, Austria, Luxemburg, the Netherlands and Belgium and several other countries.
"La Paloma","Junge, komm bald wieder" and "Die Gitarre und das Meer" bring him fame, golden records and many awards.
Freddy keeps singing all his life, and in 2002 he makes his last tour, which ends in the city where he is born : Vienna.
Some Broken Hearts Never Mend
Freddy Quinn Lyrics

To be broken
When the emptness is over.
God in your arms.
There's no future
Behind the windows
And through the cutters
Look back into the past.
But i'm still bagging you,
Bagging you, bagging you
To not close all the doors.
Yea I'm still bagging you
Bagging you, bagging who you with
Made of this greatest world.
It's not easy to be like this,
When it hurts like cased
Right on your heart.
When tears are streaming
Like tiny peaces
Broken, unless your life is
Falling apart.
But i'm still bagging you,
Bagging you, bagging you
To not close all the doors.
Yea I'm still bagging you
Bagging you, bagging who you with
Made of this greatest world.
Every single lied baby
Give our birds a bright day,
Bright day, bright day.
So listen to your heart
Not any world is strong
Turn your life to forwards,
To forward, to forward.
So listen to your heart
And promiss not to waste by,
And promiss not to waste time,
Not a waste time, not a waste time.
So listen to your heart.
I know it's not so easy.
To listen to your heart.
To listen to your heart.
When every disapear.
To listen to your heart.
But i'm still bagging you,
Bagging you, bagging you
To not close all the doors.
Yea I'm still bagging you
Bagging you, bagging who you with
Made of this greatest world.
Not every single lied baby
Give our birds a bright day,
Bright day, bright day.
So listen to your heart
Not any world is strong
Turn your life to forwards,
To forwards, to forward.
So listen to your heart
And promiss not to waste by
And promiss not to waste time
Not a waste time, not a waste time.
So listen to your heart.
I know it's not so easy.
To listen to your heart.
The lyrics of Freddy Quinn's "Some Broken Hearts Never Mend" reflects the pain of heartbreak and the struggle to move forward. The singer expresses his emotions about how difficult it is to be broken and empty inside. He wishes to find solace in the arms of God, hoping to gain some sort of comfort there. Despite the urge to look back at the past and the feeling of hopelessness for the future, he still begs the person he is singing to not close all the doors. The singer feels that it is not easy to be in this state of mind when it hurts like a case right on one's heart, and tears stream down like tiny pieces. He asks this person to listen to his heart and not waste any more time, in hopes to turn his life forward.
The use of the phrase "some broken hearts never mend" is interesting as it could mean that even though some people may understand the idea of heartbreak, they can't necessarily heal from it. They may live the rest of their lives with their broken hearts. The repetition of the phrase "bagging you" in the lyrics is also intriguing as it shows how desperate the singer is for this person not to close all the doors. The lyrics give an idea of tremendous pain associated with heartbreak, which could be felt by anyone who has been through it. Therefore, the singer is begging not only for himself, but also for others who share the same pain.
