Spanish Eyes
Freddy Quinn Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Teardrops are falling from your Spanish eyes
Please, please don't cry
This is just adios and not goodbye
Soon I'll return
Bringing you all the love your heart can hold
Please say "Si, si"
Blue Spanish eyes
Prettiest eyes in all of Mexico
True Spanish eyes
Please smile at me once more before I go
Soon I'll return
Bringing you all the love your heart can hold
Please say "Si, si"
Say you and your Spanish eyes will wait for me
Say you and your Spanish eyes will wait for me
The song 'Spanish Eyes' by Freddy Quinn is a heartfelt ballad about a lover leaving his beloved, with tears falling from her "Blue Spanish eyes." The singer, who will soon be returning, pleads with her not to cry as this is simply a temporary departure and not a permanent goodbye. He confesses that her eyes are the prettiest in all of Mexico and the true embodiment of Spanish beauty. He asks her to smile once again before he goes and promises to bring all the love her heart can hold upon his return. The song ends with the singer asking her to say that she and her Spanish eyes will wait for him.
The lyrics in 'Spanish Eyes' evoke a sense of longing and guilt as he asks her not to cry and promises to bring all the love her heart can hold upon his return. The mention of her "Blue Spanish eyes" references the popular belief that people of Spanish descent are distinguished by their generally dark hair and distinctive blue eyes. The song also references the beauty of Mexico, which has long been admired for its vibrant culture and stunning landscapes. The singer aims to provide the listener with a sense of assurance that he will come back, and they will be able to rekindle their love all over again.
