T… Read Full Bio ↴The group was born in 1990 when Andrés Calamaro arrived in Spain.
There he teamed up with Argentinean Ariel Rot, who had already played with him in Argentina, and the Spaniard Julian Infante. Rot and Infante had been composers of the youthful group Tequila. The three of them, along with Germán Vilella, - the other Spaniard in the band, - began their tests and small concerts in Madrid.
At first they were going to call the band 'Los Locos', but they soon found out that there was already an Asturian group with that name. The definitive name is due to Calamaro's amusement from the Spanish expression 'to be in Rodriguez' (when the head of a household must stay in the city for work reasons, while his wife and children enjoy themselves at the beach), because he himself was 'in Rodriguez', since he had left his fiancée in Argentina.
After composing their first songs they released their first album in 1991: 'Buena Suerte', which had great acceptance in Argentina, mainly because of Fabiana Cantilo's cover of the song 'Mi Enfermedad'. In Spain, nevertheless, it did not succeed, mainly because the recording company that published it (Passion) went bankrupt soon after the release. In 1992 they released a live album called 'Disco Pirata', with recordings from their Madrid, Barcelona and Caracas shows. In 1993 they again released a studio record, 'Sin Documentos'. In 1995 they released their last studio album 'Palabras Más, Palabras Menos', with famous songs like 'Mucho Mejor' or 'Milonga Del Marinero Y El Capitán'.
After a final tour, the group decided to separate after releasing a greatest hits album entitled 'Hasta Luego'.
La Parte de Atrás
Los Rodríguez Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh!!
y yo no fuí bueno y perdí terreno
The lyrics of Los Rodríguez's La Parte de Atrás depict a chaotic and distressing scene. The first line, "Everything is gonna be all right this morning..." appears to provide some hope amidst the chaos, but it is quickly interrupted by a scream of agony. The next lines suggest that the singer has received advice from a demon and has woken up late inside a hole. The following lines, "Sálvese quién pueda!! Mujeres y niños primero! Parece que la suerte estaba echada compañero!" ("Every man for himself! Women and children first! It seems like luck was already cast, buddy!") illustrate a sense of panic and desperation. The singer seems to have been caught in a dangerous situation, with a leather belt being used against him, and he has unfortunately lost ground.
The chorus repeats the lines "Ahora soy uno más en la parte de atrás de la ciudad!" ("Now I'm just one more in the back of the city!"); the repetition emphasizes the sense of being lost or forgotten in a place that is not in a desirable location. The lyrics give a feeling of weakness and powerlessness, with the singer admitting that he is now "just one more" in the back of the city. The song ends with the same lines, emphasizing the feeling of being trapped and forgotten.
