Fantasmi
Pierangelo Bertoli Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Oh, the ghost of freedom
wonderful warriors died for liberty
dove danzano i guerrieri
oh, the ghost of freedom
wonderful warriors died for liberty
fantastici uomini liberi
The song "Fantasmi" by Pierangelo Bertoli speaks about a utopian world where there is no pain or suffering, and where a new sun rises, bringing with it hope and happiness. The lyrics describe this world as being on the beaches of the future, where the wheat is already ripe, and where a fire will warm you sweetly. The singer invites us to join him in this idyllic world where there are no obstacles or problems, and where the past will be forgotten. This is truly a beautiful vision, a world we can only imagine, where everything is perfect and harmonious.
The song then changes course as the lyrics begin to talk about the "ghosts of freedom" who died for the sake of liberty. These men, in their quest for dignity and freedom, fought through history, overcoming countless obstacles and perils. They fought for the happiness of the poor people who were oppressed by tyranny and injustice. The singer sees them as heroes and warriors, whose spirits continue to live on despite their death. He hopes to join them in a utopian world beyond this world of suffering and pain, where he can be with them forever. The song, therefore, celebrates these men and their sacrifice, acknowledging their contribution to the world as we know it today.
