Shoop-shoop, Shoop-shoop, Shoop-shoop,
Shoop-shoop, Shoop-shoop, Shoop-shoop,
Arr yeah well the sun is shining
And the wind is blowing on the harlequin
Arr yeah, well the sun is shining
And the wind is blowing on the harlequin
Shoop-shoop, Shoop-shoop, Shoop-shoop,
Shoop-shoop, Shoop-shoop, Shoop-shoop,
Arr yeah well the sun is shining

And the wind is blowing on the harlequin

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to T. Rex's song Blackjack seem to be painting a picture of a sunny day with a gentle breeze blowing on a harlequin. This could be interpreted as the singer observing the world around them and taking note of the beauty of nature. The repetitive use of shoop-shoop is reminiscent of a child's sing-song, which adds to the light and carefree feeling of the lyrics. The use of the phrase "Arr yeah" could be seen as an exclamation of joy or excitement at the beauty of their surroundings. Overall, the lyrics seem to be simple in nature, but that simplicity adds to the charm of the song.

Another gteat selection of photos. You always seem to find some rarities. I've always wondered if Blackjack and Squint Eye Mangle were the instrumental backing tracks to what would have been songs from the Zinc Alloy sessions. As we know, Marc did this with the song Bolan's Zip Gun. By removing the vocal track he produced the far superior instrumental Theme For A Dragon. Just another part of Marc Bolan's legend.

Love it!

Due to Marc's guitar sound on this track, it is almost definitely from the Zinc Alloy sessions....If you compare the guitar sound from the 1973 "Tanx", to the 1974 "Zinc Alloy", this track definitely belongs to the latter in my opinion...
