遠い国の山のふもと
A long time ago, at the foot of a mountain in a distant land,

この世で一番綺麗な水が湧いた
the most beautiful water in the world sprang forth.

やがてそれは川になり
Soon, it became a river,

そこに群れを作った魚を
where fish gathered together,

腹を空かした熊が食べて
and hungry bears ate them,

猟師が熊の皮をはいで
Hunters skinned the bears,

それを市場で売りさばいて
and sold the skin in the market,

娘の為に買った髪飾り
which was bought for a daughter's hair ornament,

悪い人間がやってきて
but bad people came,

全部奪ってしまったのは
and took everything away,

歴史のちょうど真ん中辺り
right in the middle of history.

神様も赤ん坊の時代
Even the gods were once babies,

母親のこぼした涙が
and tears shed by their mothers

焼けた匂いの土に染みて
soaked into the earth's burnt smell,

それを太陽が焦がして
and the sun scorched it,

蒸発して出来た黒い雨雲
forming dark rain clouds as it evaporated,

その雲は海を越えた砂漠に
and the clouds crossed over the sea to the desert,

5ヶ月ぶりの雨を降らせた
bringing rain after a long five months,

雨水を飲んで生き延びた詩人が
Poets who survived by drinking the rainwater

祖国に帰って歌った詩
returned to sing poetry about their homeland,

それを口ずさんだ子供達が
and the children who hummed it,

前線に駆り出される頃
were sent to the frontlines,

頭を吹き飛ばされた少女が
where a girl's head was blown off,

誰にも知られず土に還る

そこに育った大きな木が

all throwing stones,

Drawing an unsellable art piece,

絵描きは筆をへし折られて
the artist broke his brush,

見栄っ張りで満員の電車が
Prideful, overcrowded trains,

走る高架下で暮らしている
Living under the elevated tracks.

喜怒哀楽をカテゴライズ
Categorizing emotions,

人に合わせて歌が出来て
Singing songs to please others,

悲しい時はこの歌を
and this song for sadness,

寂しい奴はあの歌を
that song for loneliness,

騙されねーと疑い出して
and doubting whether we're being fooled,

全部が怪しく見えてきて
Everything starts to look suspicious,

人を信じられなくなったら
when we stop trusting people,

立派な病気にカテゴライズ
We are diagnosed with a serious illness.

不健康な心が飢えて
Our unhealthy hearts are starving,

悲劇をもっと と叫んでいる

religious establishments, trendy stores,

いじめと夜9時のドラマと
bullying and 9pm dramas,

戦争とヒットチャートと
wars and hit charts,

誰もが転がる石なのに
Everyone is a rolling stone,

皆が特別だと思うから
but we all think we're special,

選ばれなかった少年は
The unselected boy,

ナイフを握り締めて立ってた
stood clenching a knife.

匿名を決め込む駅前の
The crowd in front of the station,

雑踏が真っ赤に染まったのは
which turned completely red,

夕焼け空が綺麗だから
was because the evening sky was beautiful.

つじつま合わせに生まれた僕等
We were born together (we).

ふざけた歴史のどん詰まりで
In the midst of a ridiculous history,

僕等未だにもがいている
we still struggle.

結局何も解らずに
In the end, we still don't understand anything,

許すとか 許されないとか
about forgiveness and being forgiven,

死刑になった犯罪者も
about those who received the death penalty,

聖者の振りした悪人も
and even those who pretend to be saints but are actually evil,

罪深い君も僕も
and the guilty you and me,

いつか土に還った時
when we eventually return to the earth,

その上に花が咲くなら
if flowers bloom on top of our graves,

それだけで報われる世界
that alone is a rewarding world.

そこで人が愛し合うなら
And if people love each other there,

それだけで価値のある世界
that world has value just from that alone.

だからせめて人を愛して
So, at least, love people,

一生かけて愛してよ
and do it throughout your life,

このろくでもない世界で
even in this crappy world.
