The song "힙합성애자" by BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan) delves into the reasons why they and others have a deep love and passion for hip hop culture. The lyrics open with a rhetorical question, asking why people wonder why they love hip hop, and noting that the culture has a significant influence on their lives. The song highlights their personal journeys with hip hop, as they recall discovering and immersing themselves in the genre. The lyrics mention specific artists, including Illmatic and Doggystyle, as well as Gang Starr, Black Star, Eric B, Rakim, Pete Rock and CL Smooth, and KRS-ONE among others.
The song also touches on the struggles and sacrifices that BTS and other aspiring hip hop artists have to endure to pursue their passion. The lyrics mention how they had to live frugally, and how they had to deal with people's doubts and criticisms. They acknowledged that there were times when they had to fake their confidence and ability, but that ultimately their dedication and love for hip hop kept them going.
"힙합성애자" is a testament to BTS's deep appreciation and commitment to hip hop, which continues to serve as a source of inspiration and motivation for their music and career.
