"Raat Ke Hamsafar" is a romantic song about the beauty of dawn after a long night full of love. The lyrics describe how two lovers walked home tired after a night full of passion, and the morning was approaching with the beauty of love. They see the first light of dawn and are mesmerized by its radiance, but they know that soon the morning will take away their love. The song also suggests that it's their responsibility to wake up the sleepers and lullaby the ones that are awake.
The song starts with the lovers walking home and ends with them leaving their home after spending a night together. The lyrics are in the present tense, which creates a sense of immediacy, and enhances the sense of the fleeting nature of love.
Overall, the song is a beautiful romantic depiction of how time moves on, but love remains the same.

Imagine Shailendra writing the words
Raat ke humsafar....its, Shankars mother
Phir luteee ja rahi.....its Shankars mother
Dekh kar saame.......its Shankars mother
Roop ki Roshni........ it's Shankars mother
.
These words were being written when already Shankar was weeping uncontrollably, who lost his 50% of his life after the death of his mother.
.
Same year 1966 December 24......he lost another 25% after Shailendra died.
Then another 25% he lost on September 11, 1971 the day Jaikishan died.
