वाह रे चितेरे
देखि तेरी चतुराई
इंद्र धनुष में झलके
तेरी परछाई
तन तरंग दे
मन उमंग दे
आज रंग दे रे

The song "Rang De Re" by Asha Bhosle is an upbeat and lively track that celebrates life and its various hues. The lyrics are an invitation to celebrate and enjoy life, to add colors to it and to feel the waves of passion and excitement. The phrase "Rang De Re" is repeated throughout the song, which translates to "color me" in English, conjuring up images of people covered in vibrant, colorful powders and dyes during Holi, the Indian festival of colors.
The song takes the metaphor of a chunariya, or a colorful scarf, to represent life itself. The lyrics urge listeners to add more colors, to create vibrant ripples and ebbs in their lives. The verse, "Rangon se tune apani chaviyaan sajai" can be translated to "you have adorned yourself with colors," indicating that the various life experiences and emotions, represented as colors, have created a beautiful and unique persona.
The song celebrates the beauty and vibrancy of life, urging the audience to live it to the fullest and add more hues to it. It is a reminder that life is a colorful journey, and the more we can paint it with bright colors, the richer and more fulfilling it will be.
