The lyrics to Bo Ling's "Hui Shi Ba Zhi Yi" tell the story of Liang Shanbo, who is determined to visit his lover, Zhu Yingtai. Zhu Yingtai has left her study room and is now living in the countryside. Liang Shanbo travels to her home in Zhujia Village, and is struck by the sight of his memories of the past. His happiness at seeing her again is tempered by the realization that he didn't recognize her earlier due to her makeup.
As they travel together, Zhu Yingtai reveals that she is destined to be Liang Shanbo's wife. They encounter different places and animals along the way, and Zhu shares her aspirations of being with a phoenix, while Liang compares himself to a silly goose. Their journey takes them through the Weaving Maiden and Cowherd's legend, the legend of the Fenghuang, and even a story of a yellow dog that bit Zhu's red makeup. The song concludes with Liang's lament at his own clumsiness and inability to understand his own fate.
