Heavily influenced by American rock & roll, Mitchell (who went solo in 1963) has often recorded outside France, at first in London, but later in Memphis and Nashville, Tennessee. Guitarist Jimmy Page and drummer Bob Graham were among the British session musicians who regularly supported him in London.
Au Bar Du Lutetia
Eddy Mitchell Lyrics

Au bar du Lutetia, il chante "As Time Goes By"
The lyrics of "Au bar du Lutetia" by Eddy Mitchell portray the daily routine of a man who frequents the Lutetia bar in Paris. The barman knows him well, and prepares his favorite drinks: a 102, which consists of bourbon, Cointreau, and lemon juice, or a Bloody Mary, when he's feeling down. The piano player recognizes his voice, and they play together, copying the styles of Count Basie and Erroll Garner. The man waits for the morning, but his night is endless.
The bar is also surrounded by women working as minimum-string dancers, as well as drunken customers who listen to the man with the cabbage-head, who couldn't care less. The man takes on a different persona while in the bar, singing classics such as "As Time Goes By" and imitating Humphrey Bogart's famous Casablanca character. He drinks a dry martini and is shrouded in a blue-grey cloud of smoke. However, things have now changed since the singer's companion stopped visiting the bar. The man is no longer there, and the barman is lost. The pianist plays "Vieille Canaille" alone, and the man who frequented the Lutetia before now drinks with the angels.
