The lyrics of Glykeria's song "Afta ta matia ta glyka" delve into themes of love, longing, and betrayal. The first verse talks about sweet eyes that the singer came across, questioning whether they were stolen, bought, or borrowed. This sets the tone for a narrative of intrigue and mystery surrounding the origins of these alluring eyes. The use of possessive pronouns like "τα" (ta) and verb conjugations like "έκλεψες" (eklepses) create a sense of ownership and emotional investment in the subject matter.
Moving on to the second verse, the singer confesses the depth of their love for these captivating eyes, emphasizing that no one else has loved them as intensely. The contrast between the overwhelming affection for the eyes and the more reserved feelings towards others further highlights the special connection the singer feels towards this enigmatic individual. The declaration that the heart will forever belong to this person adds a layer of permanence and devotion to the lyrics.
The mention of sending greetings with the stars in the sky and the morning bird in the dawn signifies a sense of longing and distance in the relationship. These metaphors evoke a sense of reaching out to the loved one across vast expanses and using natural elements as messengers of affection. The use of imagery adds a poetic and dreamy quality to the lyrics, enhancing the emotional impact of the message being conveyed.
The closing lines reveal a sense of secrecy and discretion, as the singer expresses a desire for the recipient of the message not to know about the sentiments being shared. This adds a touch of hidden emotion and perhaps a hint of forbidden love or unrequited feelings. The ambiguity of the situation and the unresolved tension create a sense of mystery and unresolved emotions in the narrative of the song.

Για πεσ μου που τα βρήκεσ
Tell me where you found them
Τα έκλεψεσ τα' αγόρασεσ
Did you steal them or buy them?
Ή δανεικά τα πήρεσ
Or did you borrow them?
Τα' αγάπησα τόσο πολύ
I loved them so much
Μα όχι άλλοσ τόσο
But not as much as another
Και την καρδιά σε σένανε
And my heart belongs to you
Για πάντα θα τη δώσω
I will give it to you forever
Σου στέλνω χαιρετίσματα
I send you greetings
Με του ουρανού τα αστέρι
With the stars in the sky
Και με την πούλια τησ αυγήσ
And with the bird of dawn
Κανείσ να μην το ξέρει
So nobody knows
