The Monkees
The Monkees Lyrics

Here we come
Walkin' down the street
We get the funniest looks from
Everyone we meet

Hey, hey, we're the Monkees
And people say we monkey around
But we're too busy singing
To put anybody down

We go wherever we want to
Do what we like to do
We don't have time to get restless
There's always something new

Hey, hey, we're the Monkees
And people say we monkey around
But we're too busy singing
To put anybody down

We're just tryin' to be friendly
Come and watch us sing and play
We're the young generation
And we've got something to say, oh

Any time
Or anywhere
Just look over your shoulder
Guess who'll be standing there?

Hey, hey, we're the Monkees
And people say we monkey around
But we're too busy singing
To put anybody down

Whaaa, one time!

Hey, hey, we're the Monkees
And people say we monkey around
But we're too busy singing
To put anybody down

We're just tryin' to be friendly
Come and watch us sing and play
We're the young generation
And we've got something to say

Hey, hey, we're the Monkees
Hey, hey, we're the Monkees

Oh I could hide 'neath the wings
Of the bluebird as she sings
The six o'clock alarm would never ring
But it rings and I rise
Wipe the sleep out of my eyes
My shavin' razor's cold and it stings
Cheer up sleepy Jean
Oh what can it mean
To a daydream believer
And a homecoming queen
You once thought of me
As a white knight on his steed
Now you know how happy I can be
Whoa and our good times start and end
Without dollar one to spend
But how much baby do we really need
Cheer up sleepy Jean
Oh what can it mean
To a daydream believer
And a homecoming queen
Cheer up sleepy Jean
Oh what can it mean
To a daydream believer
And a homecoming queen
Cheer up sleepy Jean
Oh, what can it mean
To a daydream believer
And a homecoming queen
Cheer up sleepy Jean
Oh what can it mean
To a daydream believer
And a homecoming queen

RIP Micheal Nesmith. Believe it or not, back in the 80s they were still showing reruns of the Monkees on Saturday mornings after cartoons. What a treat. Kids who stream will never understand nor the satisfaction of Saturday mornings.

Nick at Night played it and I LOVED it

Queen Lazy Eye

Anthony B. What they don't have to wait a week for a new episode? They don't have to sit through commercials? I'm 27, I remember Saturday morning cartoons and let me tell you, I prefer streaming. The 70's are gone, get over it.

Boban Milisavljevic

I was a kid in the 80s and i definitely remember the monkeys

RIP Mike for sure. At first I was attracted to the "cute one", but Mike was the cynical one, which I attracted myself to. Mike was a true visionary.. Taking the $$ his Mom left for creating "White Out" and creating the first music video channel, which years later, MTV finally acknowledged he created. Here's to you GOD Mike!!!
